How is the match score calculated?
Tailr extracts the must-have requirements from the posting and checks how much of that list your résumé genuinely covers. It's an honest coverage measurement against one specific job, not a general "how good is this résumé" grade — the same résumé will score differently against different postings, and that's expected.
Does Tailr ever invent skills to raise my score?
No. Tailr only rephrases experience you already have to match the posting's language — it never fabricates a skill you don't hold. Anything the posting asks for that your résumé doesn't support shows up as a named gap instead. On Pro, a keyword is only added to your résumé after you explicitly confirm you actually have that skill.
What are the gaps?
Gaps are the must-have terms from the posting that your résumé currently doesn't support. Treat the list as your to-do list, roughly ranked by how central each item is to the role — closing or honestly addressing the ones near the top matters more than chasing every last one.
Why did my score change as I edited?
The score is recalculated live against the posting as you change your résumé, so any edit that adds, removes, or rephrases coverage of a requirement will move the number immediately. It's meant to reflect the résumé in front of you right now, not a one-time snapshot.
Can I tailor to a pasted description instead of a link?
Yes. If a posting is behind a login, blocked to crawlers, or you'd simply rather not share the link, paste the job description text directly and Tailr will tailor against that instead.
