What can I import?
In step 2 (and on the Résumés page) you can upload a PDF or DOCX, which our AI reads into structured sections. You can also import structured data, which is read exactly as written — no AI involved, and it doesn't count toward your daily résumé reads: a JSON Resume file (the open jsonresume.org format), a Tailr backup (.json), or your LinkedIn data export (.zip).
How do I get my LinkedIn data export?
On LinkedIn, open Settings & Privacy → Data privacy → Get a copy of your data, choose the data you want (profile, positions, education, skills, projects, certifications) and request the archive. LinkedIn emails you when it's ready; download the .zip and upload it to Tailr as it is — no need to unzip it. Tailr reads only the profile files it needs (not your connections or messages).
What happens to the file I import?
It is read in memory to build your résumé and is not stored. Nothing is kept unless you save the résumé (on the Résumés page or from the editor), just like an uploaded PDF or DOCX.
Can I go back to an earlier version?
Yes. Open a saved résumé on the Résumés page and choose History. Each time you change it, Tailr keeps the version it replaced — your last 20, plus any you name. Preview one to see it, Name it to keep it for good, or Restore it; what the résumé said before the restore is kept too, so you can switch back.
How do I export or back up my résumé?
Open a saved résumé on the Résumés page and choose Export…. JSON Resume works with other jsonresume.org tools and also carries your Tailr section order, headings and custom sections, so importing it back loses nothing. A Tailr backup is an exact copy of your résumé data. Either one can be imported again later.
Something came through wrong — what now?
Everything you import lands in the step-2 editor, where you can fix any field, reorder sections and add or hide sections before tailoring. If some rows of a LinkedIn export couldn't be read, Tailr tells you which file they were in.
