How do I connect my own AI key?
Go to Settings → AI inside Tailr, choose your provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and a dozen others — see below), and paste your key. Once it connects, your key is stored on your Tailr account, encrypted at rest — never in plaintext, never logged — and used only to run your tailoring requests.
Which providers and models are supported?
A wide range: OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), xAI, Mistral, DeepSeek, Groq, OpenRouter, Together AI, Fireworks AI, Perplexity, MiniMax, and Ollama Cloud — plus any OpenAI-compatible endpoint through the Custom option. Pick whichever provider you already have a key for; tailoring quality is comparable across the strong models for this kind of rewriting task.
Where is my key stored?
On the BYOK plan it's saved to your Tailr account and encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) — never in plaintext, never written to logs — so it's there on every device without re-entering it. You can remove or replace it at any time.
Do I need a key on Pro?
No. Pro runs the AI for you using Tailr's own managed access, so there's no key to paste in or manage. If you'd rather use your own provider account and key, that's the separate bring-your-own-key plan — a $20 one-time purchase that covers a year — not an add-on you enable inside a Pro subscription.
Roughly what does BYOK cost?
The BYOK plan itself is a $20 one-time purchase that covers a year. On top of that you pay your AI provider directly for usage — a single résumé tailoring pass is a small request by API standards, typically a few cents at typical provider rates, though exact pricing depends on the model you choose and your provider's rates.
